Canon Slade School, a member of The Bishop Fraser Trust, has been awarded £2.2m to build a new block of state-of-the-art classrooms, improve their kitchen facilities and also add additional sporting facilities. Working in partnership with the local authority, the school are expanding their capacity to take in more students into Year 7, with an extra 30 places available each year, taking the yearly admission number to 300.
The new building will be near the front of the school with new sports facilities to the rear, closer to the existing PE facilities and swimming pool. Work is planned to start this year with the new building ready for September 2019 at the latest.
Headteacher David Burton commented “With the creation of brand new classrooms and sporting facilities we really are looking forward to being able to take more students into both our Year 7 and our Sixth Form”.
